Grade 316 is the standard molybdenum-bearing grade, second in importance to 304 amongst the austenitic stainless steels. The molybdenum gives 316 better overall corrosion resistant properties than Grade 304, particularly higher resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments. It has excellent forming and welding characteristics. 316 is used extensively in marine environments.
We stock 316 in sheet in thicknesses 0.5mm/0.70mm/1.00mm/1.2mm/1.5mm and 2mm. Whilst we do not stock 316 in the sprung condition, we can supply subject to minimum quantity restrictions as further processing is required.
