EN9 carbon steel, also known as 070M55, has a carbon content 0.50/0.60. It is a medium carbon steel which can develop a good tensile strength of 700N/mm 45tsi. It possesses a good wear resistance, but poor weldability.
EN9 steel can be used for shafts, axes, knives, bushes, wood working drills, crankshafts, screws, sickles, and hammers.
Carbon – 0.5 to 0.6%
Silicon – 0.4% max
Manganese – 0.5 to 0.8%
Phosphorous – 0.35% max
Sulphur – 0.15 to 0.35%
Chromium – 0.3% max
BSS supply EN9 steel in flat bars. The bars are available in full lengths or can be cut to customer requirements.
