In engineering, a shim is a thin piece of material, used to fill small gaps or spaces between objects.
Shims are typically used in order to support, adjust for better fit, or provide a level surface. Shims may also be used as spacers to fill gaps between parts subject to wear. Hardened spring steel is very suitable for shims subject to wear.
BSS can manufacture laser cut shims to a drawing or a sample, and we also stock packs of stainless shims in seven common thicknesses from 0.05mm to 0.5mm, and supply shim material in larger sheets or coils.
Our range of stainless shims are manufactured from the highest quality 301 stainless shim steel strip. Alternative grades can be supplied if required.
